The Conversation

Sunday, January 29, 2006

We did a live art event at the Ale Wagon in Leicester, where all the pieces related to conversation, based on the Francis Ford Coppola film. When you arrived, a.a.s. made you have a conversation with the person on the desk before you came in and took their place, waiting for the next person to arrive and have a conversation with you. Then you could go in.

Milgram were getting people to choose sentences from reel-to-reel tapes and trying to make a conversation from them

Niki started conversations about things he'd read in the local newspaper, John set up an interview situation and had a digital piece that can also be seen at GeekSpace, Dan did an audio loop of lines from the film, and Dave was teaching people how to say "I am an artist" in Japanese

It was a great evening all round, the theme of the show seemed to really make people want to have good conversations, which in the end was the best thing about the event.
